Ten years after pioneering sulfonylurea‑tolerant sunflower, MAS Seeds once again pushes the boundaries of innovation with the launch of its 1st certified A.I.R. variety, MAS 820AR. In 2016, the company was among the first to introduce a sunflower variety tolerant to sulfonylurea-based herbicides, and today it takes a new step forward as only the second seed company worldwide to register an A.I.R.certified hybrid. The arrival of MAS 820AR represents a significant milestone in our continuous drive to deliver advanced, flexible solutions to farmers and to reinforce our role as a leading contributor to the global sunflower market.
A.I.R. Technology
MAS 820AR is more than just a new additional variety in our sunflower portfolio. By integrating A.I.R. technology, this variety offers unprecedented weed control flexibility. Thanks to its double herbicide tolerance (imidazolinone and sulfonylureas), it allows farmers to adapt in real-time to the specific weed pressure in their fields, ensuring both clean crops and secured yields.
ORO G profile
MAS 820AR also meets other critical sunflower market requirements. With its ORO G profile, the variety is able to perform in environments with very high broomrape pressure. This is an essential advantage for securing yields in many key sunflower cultivation regions, such as the Black Sea Basin, Spain, and Kazakhstan. Furthermore, its early flowering is a strategic asset in the context of climate change and the increasing risk of heat and water stress.
