Myth vs Reality: the field is the only way to validate a variety’s performance
In the MAS Seeds laboratory, R&D data is used to: 🔎 predict the most promising crosses before they are grown in the field 🧬 decide which lines to keep and which to discard, based on market expectations and farmers’ needs ⏱ avoid spending time and trial plots on options that won’t deliver.
The result: ➡️ up to 2 cycles gained in the breeding process. One cycle means a full generation: the plant grows, flowers, produces grain… and then gives birth to the next generation.
